Passionate Support in the ATL

The Manchester United Supporters of Atlanta are one of two amazing Atlanta-based Manchester United groups. Forrest Blue shares their story with us.

The Manchester United Supporters of Atlanta started as a small, loosely organized group of friends meeting at The Brewhouse Cafe in Atlanta to cheer and sing while watching the team that they loved. The Brewhouse had long been a staple for soccer supporters and was well-known as one of the best soccer pubs in the Southeast. In fact, United supporters had been coming there to watch their club play since before the Treble. It was the perfect spot to watch a match.

While there wasn’t a huge  group of Manchester United fans at the Brewhouse at first, the bar was great fun every time we went. It had a special charm and atmosphere that attracted the most hardcore soccer fans as well as those that were just starting to dabble in the sport.

In November 2013, this small group of friends decided to start a legitimate Manchester United supporter group based at the Brewhouse. The decision was a result of the amazing display of support during the match against Arsenal. While easily outnumbered by the Arsenal fans, the United supporters never backed down and held their own while singing loudly and having a great time. Watching Robin van Persie score the only goal of the match made it that much sweeter. The camaraderie and unity that our small group had shown in the face of overwhelming support laid the foundation of this group, and the Manchester United Supporters of Atlanta were born.

Since then, our group has grown tremendously. From four passionate fans, we have grown to a group with over 150 members and plenty of regulars every week. In fact, we often meet new Reds every week from all over who have come to join us for the match.

We now have a full board committed to not only the growth and development of support at the Brewhouse. It will take time, but as we grow and get more fans every week we slowly build towards that eventuality. As always we are excited and so very grateful to have the support of the Brewhouse owners and staff. We can’t think of a better place to call home.

Come join us at the Brewhouse in the fellowship of football any game day, and see what it is like to support with us!
