Daley Blind has just finished his first season with Manchester United, he had a solid if not spectacular first season at Old Trafford and is already thinking about the preparations for 2015/16 season. Blind joined United on the 1st of September 2014 and therefore didn’t have a pre-season with United. His is looking forward to United’s tour to the United States this summer. United’s tour of the States sees them facing Club America, San Jose Earthquakes, Barcelona and Paris St Germain.

The versatile Dutchman who can play in a number of positions in defence and midfield, has been Stateside before, with former club Ajax. He is excited to cross the pond again as a United player and experience his first taste of life on tour with Manchester United. He travelled to Washington DC with Ajax to play a couple of game but this was towards the end of the season, he said:

“That was an experience, but this will be different”

“I’ve seen some of the games from last year’s tour and it was amazing to see how many were watching our matches there, and how much red there was in the stands! It’ll will be a big experience”

Blind knows that pre-season is a vital part of preparation for the season to come as the players need to prepare for the rigours of the Barclays Premier League season once more. Blind acknowledges that a successful build-up can make a huge difference once the new season starts.

“I think everybody has to get fit, that’s the important thing.”

“You want to play some good games and get to the level you want to be at when the competition starts”

“The first games of the season are important, so you get ready, get prepared and try to get your team in good shape”

He is looking forward to the tour to spend more time with his team-mates, although much of the tour schedule will be taken up with training and matches, a pre-season tour is a chance to bond with your team-mates. Blind explains:

“I’ve been here for almost a year now so I know everybody quite well, but it’s always nice to travel with each other and get to know each other better”
